Trimbakeshwar is abode of one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.  The sacred river Godavari originates from Bramhagiri hills .The extraordinary feature of the Jyotirlinga located here is the Linga in the temple is in the form of a three faced embodying Tridev, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The Linga is crowned with a jewel studded crown believed to be from Pandavas. The crown is adorned with uncut diamonds, emeralds, and many other types of precious stones.The present Trimbakeshwar temple was constructed by third Peshwa Balaji Bajirao (1740-1760) on the site of an old temple. Sant Nivruttinath, elder brother of Sant Dnyaneshwar had taken Samadhi at Trimbakeshwar.

Trimbakeshwar town is an ancient Hindu Pilgrim centre located at the source of the Godavari River, the longest river in peninsular India. Sadhus of Shaiva sects baths at Trimbakeshwar. The town is appealing with natural attractions. It is at the foothills of amazing Brahmagiri & Gangadwar mountains nestled among lusting green woody trees and picturesque environments. The serene ambience and the pleasant climate make the town of Trimbakeshwar a hot spot for nature loving tourists apart from Hindu pilgrims.

The Hindu belief is that those who visit Trimbakeshwar attain salvation or Moksha. Trimbakeshwar is considered as one of the most sacred town India. There are many reasons for this belief. Godavari originates from the Brahmagiri hills in this town and it is believed that it is the birth place of Lord Ganesha, known as place of Tri-Sandhya Gayatri.

This place is also famous for religious rituals (vidhis) like Narayan Nagbali, Kalsarpa Shanti, Tripindi vidhi etc.



Trimbakeshwar is a city and a municipal council in Nashik District situated at 28 km away from Nashik at the foothills of Brahmagiri hills of Sahyadri ranges. Trimbakeshwar is located at 19.56°N 73.32°E. It has an average elevation of 720 metres (2362 feet).


How to Reach

Trimbakeshwar is connected to Nashik by four lane road. One can also reach to Trimbakeshwar by leaving N.H.3 (Mumbai- Agra) near Ghoti village( next to Igatpuri while coming from Mumbai ).Trimbakeshwar is also connected via road from Charoti naka (90 Km)on Mumbai- Ahmedabad highway.(NH8)
